The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is our nation’s guardian of liberty, working daily in courts, legislatures and communities to defend and preserve the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to all people in this country by the Constitution and laws of the United States. The ACLU of Florida, with headquarters in Miami, is the local affiliate of the national organization. Chartered in 1965, the ACLU of Florida operates with the help of 40 staff members and 18 volunteer-run chapters across the state. The organization’s oldest chapter — the Greater Miami Chapter of the ACLU of Florida — was founded in 1955. The newest chapters — in Collier and Bay Counties — were chartered in May 2007.
Aqua Foundation for Women is a 501c3 non-profit whose mission is to serve as the funding catalyst for the wellness and equality of lesbian, bisexual and transgender women in South Florida through scholarships, mentors, grants and initiatives. Since 2004 Aqua has given over $500,000 in scholarships and grants including leading the LGBTQ Homeless Youth Initiative.
Care Resource is a 501[c](3) non-profit, multi-cultural, community based AIDS service organization, which “Through education, prevention, research, care & treatment, and support service, Care Resource improves upon the health and overall quality of life of our diverse South Florida communities in need.” Rooted in the 1998 merger of Health Crisis Network (1983) and Community Research Initiative (1989), Care Resource is now South Florida’s oldest and largest HIV/AIDS service organization and a true leader in the community.

Established by former Miami Beach Mayor, Matti Bower, as an initiative of the Miami Beach Gay Business Development Council, Miami Beach Gay Pride is a not-for-profit organization that produces free, safe, quality mass-appeal events that are open to all, and that include the Parade, Festival, Expo, and adjunct, officially sanctioned Miami Beach Gay Pride events.
For more than 20 years, The Miami Bridge has worked to keep kids off the streets. The Bridge is a not-for-profit organization that provides emergency shelter, food and, just as importantly, counseling for troubled youths and their families. The Bridge works to rescue kids from lives of victimization and crime, and in so doing, helps our community ensure that these kids have the opportunity to become productive members of our society.
The Miami-Dade Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (MDGLCC) is the largest not-for-profit corporation in the county for gay and lesbian businesses. Trans-Miami is a newly emerging community organization serving Miami-Dade County's transgender community. Trans-Miami targets communities of the third gender (Transsexuals, Cross-dressers, Drag Performers, Androgynous persons, etc.) to offer community support such as: workshops, support groups, resources and referrals. The purpose of Trans-Miami is to provide a venue for socially-displaced trans-persons in Miami-Dade County in order to connect and consolidate the LGBT community for advocacy of rights, community needs and concerns.
